Making D&D More Accessible, One Campaign at a Time

Scrollbook started with a simple problem at my kitchen table. My D&D party consisted of just three people: my son, my wife, and me. Like many small groups, I was always stuck being the Dungeon Master. Don't get me wrong—I love DMing—but I never got to experience the magic of being a player, never got to be surprised by plot twists or discover secrets alongside my party.

As a solo developer and lifelong D&D player, I wondered: what if AI could be our DM? Not to replace the human creativity and connection that makes D&D special, but to give our small family group the full experience we were missing. So I built Cipher.

The first time Cipher ran a session for us, something clicked. The immersion was incredible. The depth of the storytelling, the way it handled NPCs with distinct personalities, the creative plot twists that genuinely surprised me—we were hooked. For the first time, all three of us could play together, experiencing the adventure as it unfolded.

I kept building. Campaign management tools, Discord integration, web interface features—Cipher evolved into Scrollbook, a complete platform where everything you need to run a campaign lives in one place, without ever leaving Discord. What started as a solution for my family has grown into something that helps hundreds of DMs and thousands of players create their own unforgettable adventures.

I'm still a solo developer, but I'm not building alone anymore. Every feature, every improvement comes from listening to the community of DMs and players who've made Scrollbook part of their game nights. This is just the beginning.
